Why Blu-Ray DVD Players Are Superior to DVD Players
Written by Mark Smith on January 28, 2009
Technology is constantly improving. It is almost always evolving. Lately, our media players have been advancing exponentially. Long ago eight tracks have been replaced with MP3 players. We no longer rent videos, we rent DVDs - or, as is more often the case lately, Blu-Ray discs. To do that, we need Blu-Ray DVD players. Understandably, however, a lot of people are wary about buying them. They wonder why they are better than standard DVD players.
Blu-Ray discs are digital, which leads to better screen resolution. They are perfectly suited to bring out the best of the HDTVs most of us have these days. The screen resolution is 1080p, as opposed to the 480p you see with standard DVDs. That makes the picture more lifelike. The clarity is sharper and more colorful.
Speaking of color, it is way above average on Blu-Ray discs and players. This technology allows for the use of billions of different colors. Many of them cannot even be seen by the human eye in day to day life - but you will be able to see them on your screen. Needless to say, this makes for a more realistic viewing experience.
The quality of the sound you get with Blu-Ray players also speaks well for it. Many people say that it is just like having your own movie theatre. This is due to Dolby TrueHD sound technologies.
Again, there is such a dramatic improvement in both the clarity and intensity of both the video single and the Salem track that when you see and hear the difference for the first time the impact is just short of unbelievable.
There is also the added bonus of being able to sync up Blu-Ray players with the Internet. The players have Ethernet ports. Just hook it up, and you can be downloading ring tones, games, and all kinds of special features.
Of course, many people are still worried about switching over to Blu-Ray. They do not want to replace the DVDs they already have. Fortunately, this is not a worry. Not only will DVDs play just fine on a Blu-Ray player, but quite often, they will play at a higher clarity and quality. Sometimes they can even be played at 1080p.
When it comes time for you to purchase your new blu-ray dvd player you will find that there are many purchase options online already. There are even listings of used blue ray DVD players appearing online here.
