Blu-Ray DVD Players vs. DVD Players: Top 5 Reasons to Switch
Written by Tony Harris on January 31, 2009
Over time, we have gone from eight tracks to records to cassette tapes to CDs to MP3s. We have gone from Betamax to VCRs to DVD players to, nowadays, Blu-Ray DVD players. Media technology is almost constantly evolving. That leaves a lot of people wondering whether they should even invest in a Blu-Ray players. The answer is an unequivocal yes, but of course you will need some proof!
Blu-Ray discs are digital, which leads to better screen resolution. They are perfectly suited to bring out the best of the HDTVs most of us have these days. The screen resolution is 1080p, as opposed to the 480p you see with standard DVDs. That makes the picture more lifelike. The clarity is sharper and more colorful.
The color itself is also admirable in Blu-Ray discs. The digital technology behind Blu-Ray discs makes for a visually stunning picture. It is full to the brim of colors that even the human eye cannot pick out and recognize.
Speaking of which, the sound quality is impressive as well. Most Blu-Ray players allow for Dolby sound - in high definition at that. That means that whenever you watch a movie, it will feel like you have a movie theatre right in your living room or bedroom.
Heck, yet again, you will feel more like you are a part of the film. There is now realism available like our grandparents could never have imagined.
Blu-Ray discs and players also have a little thing known as BD-Live. What this basically does is allow you to hook up your player to the Internet, through Ethernet. You will be able to access special features, not to mention having the ability to download.
Last but not least, a lot of people resist switching to Blu-Ray because they do not want to give up all of their DVDs. However, you do not have to do that. Not only will DVDs play on Blu-Ray players, but some of them actually up the resolution. So, even though your DVD only plays at 480p, when you play it on Blu-Ray, the resolution can jump up to 1080p!
There are many options available already when it comes to buying a new bl-ray DVD player. The resources that are available to you online are extensive, quick, and inexpensive.
