Blu-Ray DVD Players vs. DVD Players: Top 5 Reasons to Switch
Written by Tony Harris on January 31, 2009
Over time, we have gone from eight tracks to records to cassette tapes to CDs to MP3s. We have gone from Betamax to VCRs to DVD players to, nowadays, Blu-Ray DVD players. Media technology is almost constantly evolving. That leaves a lot of people wondering whether they should even invest in a Blu-Ray players. The answer is an unequivocal yes, but of course you will need some proof!
Blu-Ray discs are digital, which leads to better screen resolution. They are perfectly suited to bring out the best of the HDTVs most of us have these days. The screen resolution is 1080p, as opposed to the 480p you see with standard DVDs. That makes the picture more lifelike. The clarity is sharper and more colorful.
The color itself is also admirable in Blu-Ray discs. The digital technology behind Blu-Ray discs makes for a visually stunning picture. It is full to the brim of colors that even the human eye cannot pick out and recognize.
Speaking of which, the sound quality is impressive as well. Most Blu-Ray players allow for Dolby sound - in high definition at that. That means that whenever you watch a movie, it will feel like you have a movie theatre right in your living room or bedroom.
Heck, yet again, you will feel more like you are a part of the film. There is now realism available like our grandparents could never have imagined.
Blu-Ray discs and players also have a little thing known as BD-Live. What this basically does is allow you to hook up your player to the Internet, through Ethernet. You will be able to access special features, not to mention having the ability to download.
Last but not least, a lot of people resist switching to Blu-Ray because they do not want to give up all of their DVDs. However, you do not have to do that. Not only will DVDs play on Blu-Ray players, but some of them actually up the resolution. So, even though your DVD only plays at 480p, when you play it on Blu-Ray, the resolution can jump up to 1080p!
There are many options available already when it comes to buying a new bl-ray DVD player. The resources that are available to you online are extensive, quick, and inexpensive.

Written by Anne Ahira on January 31, 2009
Anytime a new technology comes on the scene, it is a safe assumption that there will be bugs in the system and mp3 music players are no exception. Knowing what some of the common problems are and what to do about them is helpful before there is an issue.
Common Mp3 Music Player Problems
Several issues will be particular to a certain brand or size mp3 music player, for the purposes here; we will only look at issues usual to all players.
Freezing is a common trouble for an mp3 music player plus digital display. The unit will freeze up and similar your computer, the simply thing to do is shut it down and hope the issue settle on start up.
Can’t load melodies to mp3 music player.
Cannot load pictures or videos to your mp3 music player
Mp3 music player will not turn on or charge
Unwanted deletion of songs
PC does not identify the device
Surprisingly you will encounter only about ten common problems with an mp3 music player. The great news is that most are connected to software matters and not hardware.
Common Solutions
Is the operating system of your computer compatible? Check the product packaging for system requirements.
Have you installed all the software that arrive along with the mp3 music player? Manufacturers regularly pack up the players with disc including software and drivers; you may require to run the disc again.
Is the format of the music file compatible with your player? Some players will only recognize specific music file formats; again refer to the operating manual or packaging for requirements.
Reset your player, where on your mp3 music player there will be a tiny hole marked as reset. Use a small pin or toothpick to trip the reset button.
Firmware upgrade, every once in a short time a product will get to market with bugs that require a firmware upgrade. A quick explore of the internet should give you all the information necessary to achieve this upgrade.
Previous ordinary problems like cracked screens and water damage are hardware troubles and will likely need that you exchange your mp3 music player. Now there are no companies that fabricate replacement parts for mp3 music players. Now, it is more cost efficient to replace the unit than fix it.
This is an example of the most normal issues and ways to repair them. If your mp3 music player has previous matters or the above care do not work then you likely have a hardware malfunction and will have to replace the mp3 music player.

Why Blu-Ray DVD Players Are Superior to DVD Players
Written by Mark Smith on January 28, 2009
Technology is constantly improving. It is almost always evolving. Lately, our media players have been advancing exponentially. Long ago eight tracks have been replaced with MP3 players. We no longer rent videos, we rent DVDs - or, as is more often the case lately, Blu-Ray discs. To do that, we need Blu-Ray DVD players. Understandably, however, a lot of people are wary about buying them. They wonder why they are better than standard DVD players.
Speaking of color, it is way above average on Blu-Ray discs and players. This technology allows for the use of billions of different colors. Many of them cannot even be seen by the human eye in day to day life - but you will be able to see them on your screen. Needless to say, this makes for a more realistic viewing experience.
The quality of the sound you get with Blu-Ray players also speaks well for it. Many people say that it is just like having your own movie theatre. This is due to Dolby TrueHD sound technologies.
Again, there is such a dramatic improvement in both the clarity and intensity of both the video single and the Salem track that when you see and hear the difference for the first time the impact is just short of unbelievable.
There is also the added bonus of being able to sync up Blu-Ray players with the Internet. The players have Ethernet ports. Just hook it up, and you can be downloading ring tones, games, and all kinds of special features.
Of course, many people are still worried about switching over to Blu-Ray. They do not want to replace the DVDs they already have. Fortunately, this is not a worry. Not only will DVDs play just fine on a Blu-Ray player, but quite often, they will play at a higher clarity and quality. Sometimes they can even be played at 1080p.
When it comes time for you to purchase your new blu-ray dvd player you will find that there are many purchase options online already. There are even listings of used blue ray DVD players appearing online here.

T-Mobile G1 a Smartphone with Open Source Operating System
Written by Matt Ryan on January 27, 2009
T-Mobiles G1 has a truly open source operating system - Google’s Android. This was a big step, not only for Google, but for T-Mobile as well. The combination of Smartphone technologies and open source OS, gives consumers full control over their experience with the G1. With the G1 consumers can truly work and / or play from anywhere!
The 3.2-inch TFT LCD 320 x 480-pixel touch-sensitive screen is breath taking. Users simply tap or slide a finger to maneuver through the phone, and with every screen, experience pure clarity.
Sliding the display, or front face, of the phone slightly upwards will reveal a full QWERTY keyboard. Rather than having an on screen keyboard, T-Mobile felt that a true QWERTY keyboard would allow consumers to be more efficient with their typing.
There are default applications that come with the phone. Some of these applications include, but are not limited to Gmail, YouTube, Google Maps, Google Talk (instant messenger), Windows Live & Yahoo Messenger, and Google Chrome (web browser). Due to the flexibility of the operating system, many other applications are available via Android Market.
It is the operating system that puts the G1 a little above other phones in its category. The G1 is the first phone that allows consumers to create their own applications, for their own personal use, on their phone. In addition, they have a community - Android Market - in which they can share their creations and use others’ creations.
The G1 has 3G and Wi-Fi connectivity. The combination of the two allows consumers to experience “always-on” connectivity. The phone will automatically switch between networks, as necessary, which goes completely unnoticed by users.
T-Mobiles G1 has many other features such as one-touch Google search, web browsing, e-mail, instant messaging, and a 3.2-megapixel camera. The camera is a great feature on a geeked out phone. However, it does not function up to par. Due to the blurriness of pictures, and difficulty in capturing pictures, it would make more sense to carry another camera with you - until they can fix the issues with this one at least.
There are a number of quirks, on the G1. They are planning a release, towards the end of January 2009, which will hopefully fix some of the major issues. However, there is still no date as to when a new battery - with sufficient power - will be released. Other missing features, like on-screen keyboard, video recording, and stereo Bluetooth, may be fixed in a later release of the phone itself.
The G1 offers many features and applications, along with an open source operating system like no other. Surprisingly, for such new technologies, the price tag is low at $179.99 (with a new or extended contract with T-Mobile). While the phone has a few minor flaws, and missing features, it does provide consumers with a completely new experience in cell phones.

T-Mobile G1 - A Whole New Experience for Consumers
Written by Matt Ryan on January 27, 2009
Imagine a Smartphone with an open source operating system. With the integration of Googles open source operating system - Android - and T-Mobiles G1; consumers now have the ability to truly customize their experience. Additionally, 3G connectivity gives you that “always-on” experience that is so hard to come by.
The front panel, of the phone, is a 3.2-inch TFT LCD touch screen, with necessary navigational buttons directly below. With a 320 x 480-pixel resolution, you will experience crisp imagery when playing with applications, browsing the internet, or simply gliding through the multiple screens of you phone.
The one thing that put the G1 above the rest is the operating system - Googles Android. This OS was created so that consumers lives would be simpler, to give them a chance to create their own applications and share them with the world. Whoever is operating on Android now has the ability to create applications, and share them with anyone through Android Market.
The G1 has 3G and Wi-Fi connectivity. The combination of the two allows consumers to experience “always-on” connectivity. The phone will automatically switch between networks, as necessary, which goes completely unnoticed by users.

Sonic Branding: Sonic Logos
Written by SFXsource on January 25, 2009
A sonic logo is essentially a short jingle or audio identity used for brand development that is generally between 3 and 7 seconds long. In essence, it is the use of sound to convey the personality and values of a brand. Companies, associations, and brands use sonic logos to build awareness of their services and apply them across a wide array of sonic touchpoints including television, radio, the web, and mobile technology.
While the creation of the sonic logo itself is a matter of musicians and sound designers working in the studio, there are actually other steps to consider before a single note or sound is recorded. Research into the character and history of the brand is very necessary and precludes any studio work. The creators must determine who the brand is exactly so that the final sonic logo will accurately depict the brand’s identity. There are several basic steps in the process of creating a sonic logo that follow.
1. In order to begin the process of creating the sonic logo, one must first determine the core values of the brand. For example, is the brand environmentally aware, conservative, or part of a particular cultural movement?
2. Next, figure out the history of sound use by the company which may afford some sense of the brand’s identity. Use of audio in the past could be useful knowledge in what direction to now take.
3. Third, determine what audio ambience or sound effects might work to convey the values of the brand. An technology company, for example, may have computer or data sounds incorporated into some sort of futuristic melody.
4. Fourth, decide if voice is going to play a part in the sonic logo. Will there be a phrase such as “What’s in your wallet?” or will the logo simply contain a melody amidst sonic texture?
5. Fifth, ensure that the sonic logo is unique and memorable since it is meant to identify one brand and one brand alone.
The above steps are a great guide for making sonic logos that are relevant and effective. Always be certain that your client is proud of their new sonic identity and that the product you have made for them is original from anything else heard before. Once you accomplished these elements you have succeeded.

Satellite TV for PC: The New Generations TV
Written by Ashley Patrick on January 25, 2009
Time has brought a lot of changes in the way we know the world today. The television found in households today is a lot different from the ones our forefathers knew back then. Black and white programs have evolved colorful programs that look very lively on screen. The changes paved the way to the television playing a huge role in the society nowadays.
We can also deduce that people, in this ever-changing society, value their time so much. They want to be able to watch the shows that best fit their personality and not just the programs that are scheduled on TV. Young adults like romance films; the more mature adults are into informative shows; the kids prefer the cartoons; and so on and so forth.
Options range from on-demand TV to pay-per-view to many other options we have in the market. As the term indicates, on-demand TV shows only the programs based on the demands or wants of the viewer.
This is different from pay-per-view wherein commercials and all sorts of advertisements are filtered and airs only the show or program of choice. Any kind of television experience is now available for everyone to enjoy. Among the many options include the cable TV, online video streaming and the satellite TV.
High-speed internet made the deal in television viewing so much better. With the said high-speed internet, IPTV can now be viewed in a breeze, not to mention, with high quality. This is the reason for the rampancy and greater demand for IPTV.
Nowadays, everybody knows that anyone can get PC Satellite TV. Names has continuously evolved from being internet satellite TV, to online satellite TV, to satellite TV PC, to a lot more. Although there may be differences in names, what matters is that all of which are able to provide satisfaction when it comes to entertainment.
In addition, in these times when almost every home is equipped with computers connected to the web, it is expected that more and more people will be getting the service of satellite PC on TV. One such requirement is a functional computer with an ample amount of memory and speed, plus a broadband internet connection and youre good to go.
There is even no need for a monthly subscription because all one has to is pay the sign-up fee for a software that is required by the package. A one-time payment of $50 to $60 is all it takes to get the programs running anytime of the day. The number of channels that can be viewed is worth all the money in the end. This is television far from how we used to know it. This is the way entertainment should be.

Brand Your Business with a Sonic Logo
Written by SFXsource Johnson on January 24, 2009
Sonic logos are between 3 and 7 seconds long and are basically short jingles used for brand development. Basically these logos use sound to convey the values and personality of a particular brand. Corporations and businesses pay to create sonic logos in order to make the public aware of their brand and they apply these sound identities across many different touchpoints including television, mobile technology, radio, and the internet.
Before a note is played or any audio is recorded in the actual creation of the sonic logo by musicians and sound designers, there are other factors to consider. It is necessary to first research the history and character of the brand with which you are working. So that the finished sonic logo captures the brand’s identity, designers must determine the personality of the brand. The process of creating sonic logo includes the following steps.
1. The first part of the process is to understand the core values of the brand with which you are working. For instance, is the brand part of a particular heritage, promoting conservative values, or technologically oriented?
2. Next, figure out the history of sound use by the company which may afford some sense of the brand’s identity. Use of audio in the past could be useful knowledge in what direction to now take.
3. Next, figure out what sound effects or ambience will be able to communicate the brand’s ideals. For an environmental organization, for example, one might want to use sounds of water or birds to create a sort of nature montage.
These five steps provide a basic outline of the important elements of the process of creating sonic logos. No matter what you do, make sure that the finished product is different in some way from anything that’s come before and that your client is proud of their new sonic identity. If you’ve achieved those two things you’ve done your job.

Riddles and indirect-thinking
Written by Alex Gensker on January 24, 2009
Some riddles are a form of indirect-thinking question. To answer them, you have to move laterally in your mind, away from the expected guesses. This is especially true of funny riddles. What did the others do when the cannibal was late for dinner? They gave him the cold shoulder, of course.
Then there are the riddles that aren’t really jokes, but they make you laugh when you hear the answer. If an airplane crashes on the border of the U.S. and Canada, in which country do they bury the survivors? They don’t bury survivors, of course. Laughter is good for the brain. Okay, I am waiting for the research on that, but it will be proven someday.
Oh, and no political jokes here. By the way, do you know what’s wrong with political jokes? They get elected! Okay, maybe just that one. Here are a few more riddles that will make you smile.
Q: What did the instructor at the school for Kamikaze pilots tell his students? A: Watch this closely. I’m only going to do this once.
Q: Imagine you are in a sinking boat and surrounded by sharks. How do you survive? A: Just quit imagining!
Q: What did the fish say when he ran into a concrete wall? A: “Damn.”
Q: What did the instructor at the school for Kamikaze pilots tell his students? A: Watch this closely. I’m only going to do this once.
Q: Is it legal for a man to marry his widow’s sister in the state of California? A: Probably not, since he’s dead.
Q: Imagine you are in a sinking boat and surrounded by sharks. How do you survive? A: Just quit imagining!
Q: Before Mount Everest was discovered, what was the highest mountain on Earth? A: Mount Everest, of course.
